Katakune is generally a really good little silkworm. He is cheerful and friendly towards others, making him easily likable and approachable. Katakune is always enthusiastic to gain new knowledge, as he firmly believes that through constant self-improvement, he will become a better silkworm when he grows up.

Katakune also loves trying out new activities and learning about responsibilities in the process. However sometimes his inclination for shortcuts in getting things done lands him in awkward situations. Fortunately Katakune’s conviction shines through as he learns about his strengths and shortfalls.

Of course Katakune is not perfect, and like the average kid, Katakune does have his fair dosage of playfulness. Sometimes he can be too playful and this usually lands him in some sort of trouble! Luckily for Katakune, he is not afraid to admit his mistakes and learns readily from them.

Katakune has a vivid imagination and he loves to conjure up all kinds of scenarios. This really helps Katakune learn and encourages him to think of action and consequences.

Katakune’s best friend is Louie. They have much in common and they just love to hang out together. He has two other good friends: Tyko and Benny, who are steadfast in their friendship with Katakune.

Katakune likes to collect pets because he loves taking care of little animals. He has adopted Ocky the Octopus, Woofy the Half-Dog and Spiky the Cactus. They like being Katakune’s pets because he is caring and considerate towards them, as well as always giving them good feeds! In return, they make Katakune’s home warm and cozy!

LOUIE

Louie

• Race: Bee
• Character: Kind-hearted and intelligent, but a little clumsy.
• Likes: Concocting nectar cocktails
• Dislikes: Being chided by his flower friends for being rough and clumsy

Louie is Katakune’s best friend. Louie is a very kind-hearted bee and has many things in common with Katakune. He loves making friends with flowers but tends to be too clumsy and rough with them sometimes. Looks like Louie has to improve somewhat on his manners.

BENNY

Benny

• Race: Beetle
• Character: Slooooooow and nonchalant
• Likes: Being ‘innovative’ in his dressing and being complimented for it
• Dislikes: Dressing being overlooked and not receiving compliments

Benny’s family is quite wealthy and loves to collect anything oriental. As a result Benny loves anything and everything oriental. This is reflected in his unique oriental styled dress sense. Benny is also an expert on Chinese cuisine and can whip up really good Chinese food. This makes his house a popular destination with his friends for dinner!

TYKO

Tyko

• Race: Porcupine
• Character: Competitive and impatient, but kind-hearted
• Likes: Discovering new hairdos
• Dislikes: Walking … because he is so slow!

Tyko is the exact opposite of Benny in terms of character. Whilst Benny likes to take his time to do things, Tyko can’t stand leaving things undone. However, nature has it that Tyko is blessed with stumpy legs and moves excruciatingly slow. Tyko likes to hug his friends, but always ends up hurting them instead. As a last resort, he joined the Gentle Spikes Group and has since learnt how to change his hairdo so that he longer hurts his friends. His efforts have paid off and he has more friends than ever now!

GRACE

Grace

• Race: Hercules Beetle
• Character: Considerate and friendly, but over-polite
• Likes: Being recognized for her efforts
• Dislikes: Being ignored

Grace is a really sweet girl. She owns the best cake shoppe in town and serves the most delicious cakes! Although she is blessed with the strength of a Hercules Beetle, she’s usually gentle and soft-spoken. Her gentle nature often makes her seem too accommodating, but luckily her friends are kind-hearted and appreciate her for who she is.

DR. MARSHY

Dr. Marshy

• Race: Marshmallow Man
• Occupation: Doctor
• Character: Friendly and kind
• Likes: Seeing his patients get better
• Dislikes: Screaming and kicking patients

Dr. Marshy is Tazzleland’s only doctor. Being friendly and kind, he’s the kind of doctor you certainly won’t mind going to when you are ill. Dr. Marshy is knowledgeable in his trade, and always has good advice for his patients. He hands out all kinds of sweets to his patients, with the exception of marshmallows. However he does whip out his injection needle a little too often and that scares Katakune half to death!

WOODY

Woody

• Race: Wood Pecker
• Occupation: Security guard + fire man
• Character: Hardworking, brave and kind
• Likes: Going about town to help people
• Dislikes: Having nothing to do

Woody’s very passionate about helping other people. He loves righting wrongs and takes pride in solving ‘problems’ in Tazzleland. Although Woody is reliable and steadfast, he sometimes takes things a little too seriously. Woody is very good at all his jobs, but his poor vision sometimes causes more trouble than good!

RONKO

Ronko

• Race: Snail
• Character: Knowledgeable but pompous
• Likes: Modifying his shell house and preaching to others
• Dislikes: Having insufficient electricity to operate his modified shells

Ronko is sloooow and he hates it. Fortunately Ronko is an expert on shell modification and he uses this knowledge to convert his shell houses into vehicles to help him get around in a speedy fashion! In comparison to Ronald who’s an expert in aircraft design, Ronko is more of an expert in automobile design. Ronko feels that he has vast knowledge and experience to share with his friends and often offer his ‘2 cents’ worth’ which usually turns into a lecture.

RONALD

Ronald

• Character: Knowledgeable, calm and peaceful
• Likes: Flying up in the sky and observing what goes on below
• Dislikes: Due to his peaceful nature, practically nothing

Ronald is an aircraft buff and like Ronko, he loves modifying his shells. In Ronald’s case, his preferred choice of vehicles are aircrafts because he likes the feeling of soaring freely in the sky. Heli-shells, airpad shells , propeller shells - you name it, he’s done it. Equally as and if not more knowledgeable than Ronko, Ronald is more subtle in offering his views. He is usually peace-loving and quiet, but once engaged in an argument with Ronko, he tends to speak more sense than the latter. Ronald is also a teacher in Tazzleland School where Katakune and his friends study.

WOOFY

Woofy

• Race: Incomplete
• Character: Hyper-active
• Likes: Eating
• Dislikes: Nothing

Woofy looks like a dog, but isn’t really a dog. He is actually an uncompleted piece of work from a comic artist who began work on another character before completing his work on Woofy. Woofy came to Tazzleland and was later adopted by Katakune. Woofy has an insatiable appetite, and his mouth is a black hole that can just about woffle down anything and everything!

OCKY

Ocky

• Race: Octopus
• Character: Optimistic but lazy
• Likes: A comfortable habitat
• Dislikes: Unclean water

Poor Ocky was caught by Katakune on Katakune’s first fishing trip! Luckily for Ocky, he doesn’t like moving a lot anyway, so staying in his tiny fish bowl isn’t all that bad really. Besides, Katakune’s mother cooks really well, so Ocky gets to enjoy good food all the time. On weekends Katakune brings Ocky out to swim in the sea, but being the lazy fish he is, Ocky doesn’t really appreciate the gesture!

SPIKY

Spiky

• Race: Cactus
• Character: Warm and hospitable
• Likes: Grabbing attention
• Dislikes: Being reminded that he is ‘bald’ and being discovered for faking his performances

Spiky is a cactus adopted by Katakune. He is different from other cacti because he doesn’t have any spikes on him and he is a lot more colorful than the average cactus. However utter the word ‘bald’ and he will most probably sulk the whole day. Spiky loves serenading guests with his guitar solos. However, his performances are really a hoax as his guitar is in fact a CD-player.

THOMAS & WILLY

Thomas and Willy

• Race: Penguin
• Character: Loyal, honest, hardworking and patient
• Likes: Doing business and helping others
• Dislikes: Nothing

Thomas and Willy are a pair of energetic and enterprising twins. They are responsible for most of the economy in Tazzleland owning a number of chain stores that sell anything from mobile phones to ice-creams. Being honest and hardworking, they are not only involved in business, but also involved in a fair bit of community work.

MOMO

Momo

• Race: Sun
• Character: Warm and helpful, greedy
• Likes: Visiting people
• Dislikes: Being unable to control his temperature

Momo is a real Sun. But because he’s still a kid, he doesn’t have to work in the sky yet. He spends most of his time asking his friends if he can visit them, but he’s really not the most welcomed visitor as he tends to set things on fire accidentally. It also does not help that he is quite the glutton. Momo is still unable to control his heat entirely and sometimes burns his friends. Quite understandably, he is banned from entering the Penguin Brothers’ igloo and from getting anywhere near Snowy.

SNOWY

• Character: Feisty
• Likes: To become stronger
• Dislikes: To melt helplessly (the
• Penguin brothers will help him recover)

Snowy is a snowman adopted by the Penguin Brothers. Being a snowman, his greatest fear is melting and he constantly stays in the cool comfort of the Penguins’ igloo. It may sound strange, but Snowy actually shivers whenever he hears Momo is nearby as he has melted quite a few times due to Momo! Fortunately the Penguin Brothers know how to restore Snowy to his original state. Snowy loves to watch documentaries, especially if they’re about the arctic! As a result he is now an expert in arctic weather, icebergs and polar bears!

PUFFY

Puffy

• Race: Bird
• Character: Complacent and Showy
• Likes: Researching innovative and stylish flying techniques
• Dislikes: Being criticized on his flying techniques

Puffy is really younger than Duffy but he behaves like the elder brother because he is much smarter and a better flying expert than Duffy. Puffy sometimes takes advantage of Duffy’s slow-witted and kind nature, but Duffy doesn’t really mind because he looks up to Puffy. Puffy is an expert on flying. He has researched and and developed many flying techniques and he is considered to be a hero among his winged friends. Puffy doesn’t mind sharing his techniques because he just loves showing off his innovative flying skills.

DUFFY

Duffy

• Character: Slow-witted, cute, kind-hearted and trusting
• Likes: Flying
• Dislikes: Landing

Duffy is an orphan and was adopted by Puffy’s parents when he was still a baby chick. He looks to Puffy as his best friend and little brother. Growing up with birds gave him some skills in flying. Although Duffy’s flying skills are limited to gliding, this achievement is already sufficient for the other chickens to look up to him. Due to his slow-witted nature, he constantly makes mistakes but tries to make up for it by being exceedingly helpful. Duffy sometimes can be a little naive and tends to believe everything others tell him.

The TBS (Tough Bees Squad) was founded by Louie. They are set to storm the sports scene in Tazzleland, boasting capabilities in baseball, basketball and tennis! The other founding members are Roger and Tommy. Together with Louie’s keen intellect, this team is not to be sniffed at!

Yep, this is the same good old Louie. To be honest, he’s really not very talented at sports and his performance in the field is rather mediocre. But as the founder of the TBS, he is well-respected. Louie’s keen intellect and strategizing skills continues to bring the TBS to scale new heights!

CAPTAIN TOMY

Captain Tommy

• Race: Bee
• Occupation: Undergrad majoring in Bee Psychology
• Character: Overconfident and highly competitive
• Likes: Victory, victory and more victory
• Dislikes: Not being able to find a competitor

Tommy’s ultra confidence in himself stems from his perfect physique and superb skills. He comes across as being downright arrogant at times but very often even his competitors have to admit that Tommy is truly the best. As the Captain of TBS, Tommy looks set to make TBS number one!

ROGER

Roger

• Race: Bee
• Occupation: All kinds of work related to the service industry
• Character: Silent and humble
• Likes: Giving his best during competitions]
• Dislikes: Nothing really

Roger is TBS’s forward. He’s your strong, silent type who’s really dependable as a friend and on the field. Roger may not look very bright most of the time but when he’s out on the field, you will see a different Roger altogether!
